2009-2010 Honda CBR600RR

The 2009-2010 Honda CBR600RR is a racing replica bike with displacement of 599 cc that brings recent MotoGP technology into a production motorcycle. This is a powerful bike, and it comes with the option of an anti-lock braking system. Many bike experts were skeptical of the idea of an ABS on a supersport bike, but Honda has tweaked the system, and reviewers say that the ABS feels almost identical to the standard braking system supersport bikes traditionally use ...

It was first released in 2003 as the racier little brother of the CBR600F series: the Honda CBR600RR, which has received widespread acclaim from the start. In the intervening years it won a string of World Supersports titles and became one of the best selling 600cc bikes with inline-fours ever.
Honda had been known primarily as making sport bikes that were more street friendly, but the CBR600RR (the "RR" stands for "Race Replica") introduced its Pro-Link rear suspension and Dual Stage Fuel Injection, both made available on a production motorcycle for the first time. Previously, these were MotoGP technologies, MotoGP being motorcycle racing's premier class, where all the most sophisticated technology is found.
The CBR600RR had a complete makeover in 2007, resulting in a bike 20 lbs lighter than the model that preceded it. In 2009, the CBR600RR underwent a slight redesign with bodywork that covers more of the engine, updated color schemes, and, perhaps most significantly, had the option of an anti-lock braking system (ABS). The ABS is optional on both the CBR600RR and the CBR1000RR in the 2009 model, and will be added on the 2010 models in numbers dependent on consumer response. European sales of these bikes should be brisk because some European countries want to make ABS mandatory on all motorcycles.
Many sport-touring bikes and standard bikes are now offered with an ABS option, but the 2009 Honda CBR600RR marks the first time the technology has been used on a supersport bike. Because a sport bike is smaller and lighter than most bikes, the rider has to have maximum control over deceleration, and until recently, ABS systems would have been triggered too soon, causing a disconnect between rider and bike and jeopardizing control over the bike. ABS systems also adds weight to a bike that depends on being nimble and compact.
But the Honda ABS system on the CBR600RR has been reviewed as feeling nearly identical to conventional brakes in most braking situations. It has what Honda calls an ABS Modulator, which ensures that the ABS won't trigger too early and will respond smoothly.
Other changes that showed up in the 2009-2010 CBR600RR include minor fairing changes to reduce wind noise, an engine that has improved low-rpm power delivery, and new paint schemes. Accessories for the model include an anti-theft alarm, rear seat cowl, and tinted bubble screen. The 2009 Honda CBR600RR weighs 184 kilograms and the manufacturer's suggested retail price starts at $11,999 and goes up to $12,999 for models with the new ABS.
